Evaluation
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product.
Interview About Production - Audince Research
My audience research was my friend as seen above, giving me her views on my production. She states how the music gave the production more tension and how the women actor should have acted more suprised about the fact that her child has gone missing which i agree with.
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
Who would be your audience for your media product?
We plan that our target audience is teenagers, 15 - 25 We chose to target this audience becuase it was our own age and would be easy to relate too. It will appeal to both genders. This could also target people with an interest in thriller genre movies or mothers becuase they would feel what she is going through. We used both a mothers and a young son in the opening beucase these will be the main characters in the film. If children under 15 watched this they wouldnt feel safe in their home becuase it is set in a normal house. We carried out questionaires in college to find out what the best target audience would be for our thriller. We asked people of differnt ages around college.

How did you attract/address your audience?
We carried out questionaires before we started filming and then after filming , we handed them out around college. We tallied all the scores and made them into charts. We wanted to put the audience on the edge of their seats to keep them watching.

Diary
13th December
This was our first day filming at Sengas house. We hired out the camera and tripod and took it to her house where we started filming. We started filming from the shooting script with Ozzie and Ellis and thought we had completed the whole of the filming.
14th December
We started to do complete our blogs by doing our Reece and Locationsheets. This was for Sengas house but we later changed it to Emmas house. I also published my Production Material and Production Schedual.
18th December
I started the log sheets for Sengas house which will later be changed to Emmas house. This took all the lessons up on too christmass break.
Tuesday 4th January
This was our first day in the editing suite with our tape. We watched our thriller to see what footage we had . We thought when we first looked over our tape that we had enough shots for the 2 minute piece we had to create.
Wednesday 5th January The next day we started to capture all the shots. When we captured these we had to leave a 3 second space either side of the shot so we had all of shot included there, and cut the bits out which we needed. Once we had captured all these shots, which took about 30 minutes or so, we then saved this to the shared user, so we could access this from all areas of the college.
Thursday 6th January
Today we started to put the shots together making sure everything flowed and the contenuity was correct.
Friday 7th January
We carried on today with the editing of the shots, and continuing to make them flow using match-on-action.
Tuesday 11th January
After almost a month after we filmed Dawn checked our footage and what we have editied together so far. Dawn advised us to edit the footage together as best we could and if it isnt up to a certain standard then we would have to re film.
Wednesday 12th January
We tried to edit the shots together the best we could but we had framed it all wrong and cut off heads and it was no where near long enough.
Thursday 13th January
When we finished the editing we shown Dawn and she strongly advised us to film again to get better marks.
Friday 14th January
We wanted to re film because the quality and quantatiy was not enough. Then we had to try and get the orignal cast to come and re film, however they where always busy. Emma said she would ask someone she knew becuase they have a little boy. This was perfect so we went round to her house and edited all together. Dawn said it was much better than the first one as we got some good camera angles and framed it better.
Tuesday 18th January
We filmed on the 16th. We were all free and so were our actors. We had to go through all of the procedures like we did before, so the capturing, and the cutting of the shots to make the 2 minutes flow. As we have done this before we did it pretty quickly however we were 50 seconds off 2 minuets so we had to film again. .
Wednesday 19th January
Once editied all together Dawn said that it was up to standard and with our added shots we were one second of 2 minuets and as everything flowed correctly Dawn said it would be okay.
Thursday 20th January
Today we added the titles to the shots, and we also did the log sheets and the edit decision lists of the new film,Senga and Emma stayed behind and finished off some of edit decision lists, and i took them home and scanned them as, as i thought this would of been easier than doing this in college, in case the scanner wasn't free.

Section Twelve - My Thriller
Narrative Structure
Thriller Codes and Conventions
Question and Answere model, where is the child, who is the man at the door and window.
Maze and lybrithns, thinks she can find him but when she looks into a new space he isnt there. Partical vison at the window, we used a mesh window so you couldnt see the features of the man at the door, this is to keep the audience wondering who is there.
Camera work
establishing shot of the house this is to show that it is a nice quite normal area
Mid long shot of the living room,
extreme close up of her counting
match on action when she grabs the handle. to give anticipation on to whats inside
Match on action on the boys feet when he runs past.
Shots from outside to show that someone might be there.
a shot from in the cupboard looking out when she opens the door, this is to let the audience think that he is in there whe he really is not. This plays on the answer and question model.
Mise en Scene
Mother and son wearing normal clothes. Quiet neighbourghhood. clean house, normal typical house, shows she is a normal typical mother. Mother is a big charcter because she is in alot of the opening scene.
Sound
Digetic sound of her counting, walking around.
non digetic sound of the backing sound.
When you see the shadow at the window, the is a loud sound to show that this is linked to the plot of the prodcution.
Editing
the way all the shots run smoothly thourghout the production. this was done well becuase we had filmed the shots 3 times each to pick a good one.
Graphics
Title: Ready or Not red and shakey with a black back ground
asking a retorical question, to make the audience ask questions about the film
Single mother, more vunerbale without a farther.
It is light at the begining and it gets darker, this shows that something bad is going to happen. When the man is stood at the door there is a loud noise to show significance to him.

14) On a scale of 1 to 5 how much did you feel the fits into the thriller genre?
1 2 3 4 5
15) How could the thriller be improved?
We can see from this data that the audience could understand the storyline, this may be because of the title which is at the end of our opening. Also the young boy went off to hide, which we could see and also we could see she was looking round the house for him too.
The music builds suspense through our thriller, the reason being the music starts off quite low and slow. The sound then began to grow louder and faster through out the film which gives the effect that the danger is getting closer.
I believe the graphics where appropriate to the thriller becuase they gave a retorical question at the end of the opening which was red and gave the impression of blood or danger, also the text was appropriate.
I believe the theme was good becuase the kidnapping is well known and we gave it a twist in the opening, this is becuase we saw there was going to be danger and we gave the audience a good insight as to what will happen through the film.
Most of the votes where of 4 and 5 which means the audience believed the opening built suspense. I think the main reason for this would be the music we used for the background of our thriller, and how the music built up through out the opening.
Most people we interviewed said they wouldnt want to watch the rest of the film after watching this opening. This may be becuase we gave too much away in the opening.
I belive the audience to our Thriller said no because they haddn't watched enough of the film to know who the main villain is and who the hero may be.
The audience may of said this becuase we used the same angles a few times, but we flicked from each angle to the others.
The opening was meant to build suspense for the main film, which i believe it did.
Our thriller followed codes and conventions such as, sound, which built suspense when played at the back of the action taking place.
We can tell by this data that they could relate to the charaters by the charater being a child and the target audience being teenagers. They can relate being its transform city and the child is a normal person so they can understand the danger they are in.
We give all the detail needed in the shots we used, i think this is the reason why the framing was good.
Most of the audience believed it fit into the Thriller genre.
